Computational modeling, based on solid mathematical foundations, is possibly our finest instrument to address the complex engineering challenges we confront today. In our research group, we develop mathematical models that describe the behavior of the systems, we translate these mathematical models to computer models, and then we develop special techniques to solve these models. Consequently, we employ these insights to tune the behavior of materials by modifying their microstructures according to our specific needs and criteria. Thus, explaining, exploring and exploiting the behavior of soft materials and metamaterials at large deformations constitute the three pillars of our research. We are situated at Bilkent University where we are proud to have created a small and creative research lab, with many international collaborations.
